Who We Are What We Do How You Can Help

The growth of information technology is reshaping society and creating a "global village." But as the ease of exchange of ideas and points of view grows, the poor and disadvantaged who lack access to the new technology are threatened with increasing alienation.

AFINNET is working to establish a new Information Technology Centre that will give the poor rural communities in Mpigi, Mubende, Mityana and Kiboga districts of Uganda access to the burgeoning knowledge of this new global village.

The new AFINNET Information Technology Centre will:

make computers and the internet accessible to rural communities in Mpigi, Mubende, Mityana, Kiboga districts who currently have limited technological resources;

provide appropriate training and support for people to use these new tools and resources;

empower rural community-based organizations to use the new information technology to advance their development initiatives, generate feedback, and nurture dialogue;

create a platform for AFINNET's own voice, facilitating the dissemination of information to its members.
