January
16, 2009: The fifth AFINNET
school graduation took place on January 16, 2009. 57 young women
graduated from the sewing and tailoring program, and 4 young men
graduated from the carpentry program. The Residential District
Commissioner of Mityana District was the guest of honor. The Bishop
of Mityana, Dr. Samuel Kazimba, also attended. |

1, 2008: The new AFINNET hostel is now open for the
students. The young women currently living in the hostel are
studying home economics and tailoring. |

December 2007:
AFINNET gratefully acknowledges a $21,000.00 USA dollar
Weyerhaeuser Family Foundation
grant obtained by our partnering parish in the USA,
St.
John in the Wilderness Episcopal Church to expand
AFINNET's job skills training programs for women in rural Uganda. |

23, 2007: The AFINNET school in Mityana, Uganda, had another
successful graduation on October 23, 2007. The Rev. Dodie Masdern
was the guest of honor on this remarkable day. 53 graduates were
sent out to begin a new life. 40 of them had been in the tailoring
program, 8 in the home economics program, and 5 in the carpentry
program. |

22, 2007: The Rt. Rev. Dr. Dunstan Bukenya, the Bishop of Mityana,
visited AFINNET and viewed the progress on the construction
of the new women's hostel. |

31, 2006: The AFINNET school in Mityana, Uganda graduated 25
women on October 31, 2006. The Rev. Mark Kelm from
St.
John in the Wilderness Episcopal Church, White Bear Lake, Minnesota, USA was the
guest of honor. |
