AIDS and military conflicts on its borders have left Uganda with hundreds of thousands of orphans and destitute children. Cities and towns are registering increasing numbers of street children and homeless youth. Many of these children can't attend school because they cannot pay school fees, buy adequate clothes to wear, or feed and nourish themselves adequately.
The AFINNET Childhood School Assistance Program sponsors such orphans and needy children so they can attain a basic education of 11 years. AFINNET is currently working with two schools in the Mityana area. More assistance is needed.
