AFINNET seeks to improve the social and economic well-being of those living in poverty in rural communities. Our Social Outreach programs promote rural community development projects that strive to:
- model God's love and justice in economic, social and political relationships,
- model Christian relationships of equality between men and women, employers and servants, rich and poor,
- identify violations of human rights and assist victims in obtaining their rights,
- encourage the crossing of barriers of wealth, colour, caste and religion,
- assist needy children to attain basic education and derive as much as possible from that education,
- enable the full participation of youths and women in community life,
- improve the availability of primary health care and means for disease prevention,
- promote environmental protection rather than exploitation of the natural world.
We cannot go out and proclaim the love of God while turning a blind eye to the hunger, oppression, homelessness and illness around us.
The proclamation of the gospel or "good news" of Jesus Christ is also a proclamation of judgement upon every form of alienation, oppression and discrimination. We must not be afraid to denounce evil and injustice wherever they exist.
